Lackner 6-in-1 v5 and Quik Programs

Web Download Installation Instructions

Files are available on: http://www.lacknergroup.com/downloads.htm

Installation of the available web updates will require a password.

You should have received a fax broadcast message from The Lackner Group, Inc. with the applicable password information for the modules for which you are licensed. You will be prompted for a password when you install the software, not when you first download it from our web site. Password entry is case sensitive — when prompted, make sure you enter the password exactly as it appears in the faxed document. When you type the password, your screen will display only asterisks. This is normal when you enter passwords.

To properly install these modules, you will need to know the current location of the 6-in-1 and/or Quik programs. The default locations are as follows:

6-in-1 C:\LACKNER5
Quik C:\QUIK

If this is not where your programs are installed, then you will need to adjust the installation program defaults to match your installed location.

If you will be installing a module which has auxiliary schedules (706 and 1041), please make sure you download and install the Quik version of the auxiliary schedules for the module in question. DO NOT INSTALL THE AUXILIARY SCHEDULES INTO YOUR LACKNER5 DIRECTORY.

Step One — Downloading the file:

Click on the link representing the product you wish to download. When prompted, save the program to disk (using the suggested name) in a temporary folder - for example, C:\TEMP.

Tip: to add a drive and directory reference without losing the file name, press your <home> key to unhighlight the file name and move your cursor to the beginning of the File name box. Then type in C:\TEMP\ and press <enter>.

You should record the name and location where the file is being saved to for reference in Step Two. Once the download process is complete, you are ready to install the downloaded product.

Note: Depending on the browser that you are using, you may need to Control-Left Click, Shift-Left Click, or Right Click and choose Save-As on the desired link in order to properly download it. You may accept the default "Save as type" choice (usually "All Files (*.*)" in Netscape, or "Application" in Internet Explorer).

For additional information of how to download files with your Internet browser, consult its online help.

Step Two — Running the downloaded file:

If you are using Windows 95/98/NT4/ME/2000/XP:
From your windows desktop, click on the Start button. Select Run and then Browse to the directory location where the downloaded file has been saved. Select the file, click Open and then OK.
If you are using Windows 3.1/3.11/NT3.51:
From within the Program Manager click on the File menu and select Run. On the Run dialog box, click the Browse button and proceed to navigate to the directory location where the downloaded file has been saved. Select the file, click Open and then OK.

Step Three — Installing the downloaded product:

You will be presented with a WinZip Self-Extractor Password window, as depicted below:

Type in the appropriate password for the product, and click the OK button. WinZip will now proceed to extract several files and will start the Lackner Installation program when complete.

Follow the on-screen prompts to install the software into your existing 6-in-1 directory. When the installation process is complete, you will be returned to your desktop.

6-in-1 Version 5 Only

Upon your next entry into 6-in-1, you will be prompted to confirm the location of your data files. Simply enter through the prompts, selecting the desired state. If you receive a message stating "No States were Found", verify that the directory location where you data files are located is entered correctly under the File, Change Lackner Directory, menu option. If the problem persists, please contact Technical support.
